Tell the UK Government: put Britain on the path to a future free from homelessness

The UK Government promised a strategy to get Britain back on track to ending homelessness and the biggest boost to social housing in a generation. Now it’s up to us to make sure these promises lead to real change.

Thousands of us are being forced to sleep on the street fearing for our lives.

Record numbers are stuck in cramped and mouldy temporary accommodation because there isn’t enough social housing. These are records we can’t keep breaking.

But we’re hopeful. The moment for change is now. The new government must seize this opportunity to set things right and break the cycle of rising homelessness.

Will you add your name to show the government you're counting on them to put us on a path to a future free from homelessness?

The government must take continued, bold and fearless action by:

  • Building on their positive steps to boost social housing
  • Funding councils so everyone has a safe place to stay now
  • Delivering a strategy that will end all forms of homelessness
  • Ensuring everyone gets the support they need if they face homelessness

This is just the beginning. We’ll work with the government every step of the way. But together, we'll also hold them accountable.

We'll keep going until no one faces the indignity of homelessness. Until all of us have a safe, affordable home that helps us build a happy, healthy life.

Let’s show the government we're relying on them to put Britain on a path to a future free from homelessness.

How will these steps help end homelessness?

The key to ending homelessness is more truly affordable homes. So, we need the government to continue their initial positive steps and set out how they will deliver the 90,000 social rent homes per year needed to end homelessness.

We want all options to be considered, including repurposing the 261,000 long-term empty homes.

Meanwhile, councils need urgent funding to cope with the rising numbers of people forced into homelessness. Without it, we might see the homelessness system collapse.

Finally, the actions the UK Government could take in their strategy could help end homelessness across the whole of Great Britain, including Scotland and Wales.
