Join the campaign for a future free from homelessness

Thanks to our campaigning, The UK Government has published a ‘National Plan to End Homelessness’. Now, it’s up to us to make sure they deliver on that aim.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to make lasting change. We’re urging the UK Government to step up and deliver a future free from homelessness for us all.

A safe, stable home is the foundation for a healthy and full life. But right now, soaring living costs and a shortage of truly affordable homes mean that record numbers of people are being forced into homelessness.

But we’re hopeful. Thanks to our campaigning, The UK Government has published a ‘National Plan To End Homelessness’. Now, it’s up to us to make sure they deliver a future where all of us have a safe home.

It's not right that more than 300,000 families and individuals are experiencing the worst forms of homelessness in England. That includes 172,000 children who are growing up in temporary accommodation, restricting their life chances and trapping them in poverty.

A future free from homelessness means building social rent homes and unfreezing housing benefit so people can afford their rent. It means everyone being able to get the right support when they need it.

And it means preventing homelessness before it happens by fixing our welfare system and making sure public services work together.

Will the UK Government’s plan end homelessness?

The National Plan to End Homelessness includes positive commitments to reduce rough sleeping and end the unlawful use of B&Bs for families experiencing homelessness.

It also focuses on preventing homelessness before it starts – a key call of ours.

But it won’t make rents more affordable for those of us on low incomes. And the shortage of social homes isn’t changing any time soon.

Without this, ending homelessness could be out of reach. That’s why we’ll keep campaigning for as long as it takes for all of us to have a safe home.
