The Scottish Government has a huge opportunity to end all forms of homelessness in Scotland by 2040.

Join us in calling on the Scottish Government and all political parties to end homelessness for good.

The Scottish Government has a huge opportunity to end all forms of homelessness by 2040, in line with Scotland's housing supply goal.

Scotland has strong rights in place for people who are forced into homelessness. But more people are losing their homes every week.

Record numbers of people are sleeping on our streets. Growing numbers are trapped in temporary accommodation. The number of people experiencing different forms of homelessness is at an all-time high.

The Scottish Government has a chance to change this.

That means:

  • Building the right number of the right type of homes in the right places, so people across Scotland have a home to call their own.
  • Giving people better support much earlier on, before they become homeless.
  • Making sure money spent brings levels of homelessness down.

By doing this, we can create a country where everyone has a safe and stable home. A society that’s thriving because we can all take better care of our health, relationships and work. We can end homelessness for good.

Why 2040?

We've chosen this date because the Scottish Government has agreed a plan to deliver enough housing for everyone by 2040. This is a great step forward, but it will not in itself end homelessness.

It must be combined with urgent changes to public services so that people facing homelessness get the help they need, when they need it. This means getting access to housing and support.

That's why we need a bold, long-term commitment to end homelessness in Scotland, from all political parties. That will help us hold the Scottish Government to account, they have a mandate to build a Scotland where everyone has a safe secure place to call home.
