Social homes are cheaper to rent and more secure than renting privately, so are key to ending homelessness.
The UK Government has already committed to a massive social home-building program in England. This is a hopeful step in the right direction, but will take time.
To help people now, the Government needs to release more funding so homes can be delivered faster, buy suitable homes on the market and bring over 300,000 long-term empty homes back into use.
